Guest Houses
A guest house is the types of accommodation that has at least 4 bedrooms, some
of them with ensuite or private facilities. It is usually run as a commercial
business. Breakfast is available and evening meals may be provided.
B&B's
Accommodation offering bed and breakfast, usually in a private run house. Bed
and breakfast inns can normally accommodate no more than 6 guests and they
sometimes serve an evening meal.
Small Hotels
A small hotel normally has a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 20 bedrooms. Most
bedrooms have a bathroom. Small hotels serve breakfast, dinner and, sometimes
lunch. They are normally run by the owner that's why the family hotel reflects
their own personal style.
Hotels
A hotel normally has at least 20 bedrooms, in which most rooms have ensuite or
private facilities. They serve breakfast, dinner and lunch as well. One of the
most fashionable ones contain wellness facilities such as swimming pool, sauna,
jacuzzi, massage etc.
International and Resort Hotels
A hotel with a 4 or 5-star quality that has a range of entertainment and
sporting facilities such as golf courses, swimming pool, conference rooms and
leisure centre.
Self-catering accommodation
A house, cottage, apartment, chalet or similar accommodation, with self-catering
facilities, which is let normally on a weekly basis to individuals, although
shorter breaks may be available.
Apartments, condos or serviced apartment
Self-catering apartments are usually part of a house or a hotel which contain at
least a bedroom, a kitchen, a bathroom and sometimes a living area. Some of them
are called services apartments as they offer services such as cleaning. Meals
and drinks may also be available, either to each apartment or in a restaurant
nearby.
Restaurant with Rooms
This is the type of accommodation in which the restaurant is the most
significant part of the business and is usually open not only to overnight
guests as well as those staying there. Breakfast is usually provided.
Campus Accommodation
The accommodation provided by colleges and universities for their students is
often made available - with meals - to individuals or groups at certain times of
year, typically the summer, Easter and Christmas holiday periods.
Lodge or motel
Overnight accommodation, usually purpose-built and situated close to a major
roads or city centers. Reception hours may be restricted and payment may be
required on check-in. Sometimes they have restaurant facilities and offer
breakfast.
Inn
Bed and breakfast accommodation usually contains a traditional inn or pub. The
bar and restaurant is open to guests and provides food at lunchtime and in the
evening.
Hostel
A building run by a private operator or by organizations such as universities,
where beds and sometimes meals and other services and facilities are provided.
They usually offer cheap accommodation for backpackers.
Touring Park and Camping Park
A park that offers touring pitches, and they sometimes offer camping pitches as
well.
